Choose emailverifier.dev when verification is infrastructure inside your app. Choose Hunter when finding professional contacts, enrichment, lead management, and cold-email sequences matter as much as verification.

Pay for verification or buy the sales workflow
Hunter’s standard plans combine verification credits with email finding, company discovery, enrichment, leads, and outreach sequences. Its Data Platform is the better Hunter option when you only need API access, but it uses separate annual plans. emailverifier.dev is simpler when your application already owns the customer data and only needs a verification decision.
| Compare | emailverifier.dev | Hunter |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $10 for 20,000 checks. Credits do not expire. | Free plan available; paid all-in-one plans currently start at $34 per month. API-only Data Platform plans are separate. |
| Billing | Every authenticated email or domain check uses one project credit, including unknown results. | All-in-one plans use shared recurring credits; Data Platform plans separate search and verification credits. Hunter does not offer a standalone pay-as-you-go plan. |
| Product | Focused REST API, MCP server, domain reports, and project-scoped keys and balances. | Email finding, verification, enrichment, company discovery, lead management, and outreach sequences. |
| API | POST one email and receive deliverable, risky, undeliverable, or unknown plus flagged. | The Email Verifier is a GET endpoint with detailed statuses, scores, source data, and a possible asynchronous 202 response. |
Choose emailverifier.dev when
- You need verification without paying for prospecting or outreach features.
- You want non-expiring one-time credits instead of a monthly or annual plan.
- You want a POST endpoint with credentials in headers and a compact response.
- You need project-level separation for different products or customers.
Choose Hunter when
- Your team also needs to find professional email addresses.
- You want enrichment, company discovery, saved leads, or email sequences.
- Public web sources associated with an address are useful to your workflow.
- A combined sales prospecting platform is more valuable than a focused verification service.
Migration checklist
- 1Replace GET /v2/email-verifier with POST /api/v1/verify.
- 2Move the API key from the query string to X-API-Key or Authorization.
- 3Map Hunter valid to deliverable, invalid to undeliverable, and disposable or accept-all outcomes to risky.
- 4Replace polling for 202 responses with your normal timeout and retry policy for unknown results.
- 5Keep Hunter if your integration also depends on Finder, Enrichment, Discover, Leads, or Sequences.
Test your real integration.
Start with 1,000 credits. Keep Hunter running until your status mapping and fallback policy behave as expected.
