MX lookup

Check a domain’s current MX records and read mail exchangers in priority order.

How to read MX records

Each record names a mail exchanger and a preference value. Lower values are preferred. Equal values let senders choose between exchangers at the same priority.

No MX answer is different from a null MX record. A null MX explicitly says the domain does not accept email; an empty MX answer may still use address-record fallback. The null MX versus no MX guide explains that boundary.

DNS data is resolved through Cloudflare’s public DNS-over-HTTPS service. This lookup does not contact a mailbox.
